Audrey Cataline is a standout Outside Hitter for the University of St. Thomas, where she is currently a senior pursuing a degree in Business Administration. Now in her third year coaching at The Volleyball School, Audrey has become a favorite among our younger athletes for her energy, patience, and positive coaching style.
Audrey specializes in working with our 10U and 11U players, affectionately calling them “the littles.” She thrives in group settings and creates a fun, encouraging environment where kids can learn, grow, and fall in love with the sport.
Dayron Arias – Coach

Hitter/Defensive Specialist / Setter
Coach Dayron Arias Romero is a former professional volleyball player from Cuba who brings a wealth of experience, skill, and passion to The Volleyball School. As a seasoned Outside Hitter (OH) with an all-around playing background, Dayron offers a well-rounded coaching perspective rooted in high-level competition.
With a strong focus on hitting, passing, and overall offensive development, Dayron specializes in helping athletes become more explosive, confident, and technically sound on the court. He has a deep passion for mentoring young players and is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of the game while fostering a love for volleyball in every athlete he works with.
At The Volleyball School, Dayron works closely with our Intermediate and Advanced level students, focusing on hitting, defense, and setting—equipping players with the tools they need to take their game to the next level.

Melissa Bento – Coach
Ex-D1 Volleyball Player
Hitter/Defensive Specialist
Melissa was born in Brazil and volleyball has always been a big part of her life since an early age. She came to the states with a D1 Scholarship and holds a degree in kinesiology. She enjoys working with kids and sharing her extensive volleyball knowledge to help them succeed and play at a competitive level.
Thaynara Godoi

Ex-college player with years of experience as a setter and defensive player. Some of her honors include:

Jene Vanderbilt
Ex-D1 College Player
OH / RS Hitter
Jene Vanderbilt is a former Division I athlete with over two decades of experience in teaching and coaching volleyball at both the school and club levels. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and currently serves as the Head Volleyball Coach at Dulles High School.
With 22 years of experience coaching middle and high school volleyball in both public and private settings, and more than 15 years coaching club volleyball, Jene brings a deep well of knowledge and leadership to our program. Her coaching style is rooted in fundamentals, discipline, and a love for the game.
Maiya Peña

Coach Maiya Peña is a former middle blocker from UT Tyler University, where she made a name for herself as a standout collegiate athlete. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and brings both extensive coaching experience and a genuine passion for working with young athletes.
Maiya is in her second year coaching at The Volleyball School, where she is known for her positive energy, strong technical instruction, and ability to connect with players. Her background in kinesiology supports her thoughtful approach to movement, training, and player development
Catalina Martinez
Ex-D1College Volleyball Player
Setter
Catalina Martinez’s journey with The Volleyball School is truly special. She began as a student in our program while attending Beck Middle School and continued training with us through her years at Cinco Ranch High School. Her hard work and dedication earned her a volleyball scholarship to the University of Memphis, where she played as a Setter at the collegiate level.
Now an experienced coach and mentor, Catalina brings her full-circle experience to every class and camp she leads. She has a natural gift for connecting with students and creating a positive, encouraging environment where athletes can grow in both skill and confidence.
Catalina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Psychology. Beyond the court, she is a key part of our community outreach team through The Volleyball School Foundation, where she leads initiatives to bring volleyball and mentorship to inner-city youth. She believes in using sports as a bridge to education, opportunity, and personal growth.
Lexy Thomas
Ex-D1 College Player
OH / RS Hitter
Lexy Thomas is a former Division I athlete who brings high-level experience and energy to our coaching team. As a Pin Hitter (OH/RS), Lexy excelled on the court with a strong focus on hitting, blocking, and defense. She specializes in helping young athletes develop powerful and consistent offensive skills while building confidence in their overall game. Lexy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Sam Houston State University.
Luigi Iannone – Coach
Regional team – Turin, Italy
Libero / Setter
Brings over 20 yrs of experience playing for the Italian Federation both as a setter and hitter. He adds extensive volleyball training experience working with youth groups and helping them develop the proper technique required to play volleyball in middle school, high school or at the club level.
